Finding temporary farm labour can be time consuming and a real headache! How do we do it? Its simple and the key is to providing our relief milkers and farm workers with regular and ongoing work. Like anything when dealing with staff our system is not bullet proof but is designed to reduce and minimise risks. However, the risks in engaging a milker that is independent and operating on their own account are a lot higher than engaging one of our relief milkers or farm workers. We have had countless times where we have had a farmer on the phone who has engaged an independent relief milker and the milker has pulled out just before the family is about to take off on holiday.
What we have seen a lot of our clients do is engage our milkers, reduce a labour unit on farm, rent out the workers house and in turn reduce further expense by having to employ a relief milker when having to pay a staff member annual leave at the same time. We are seeing a real trend from clients in using our service like this and expect that this will be a growth area of our business going forward.
We also ask that when clients do use our service that they post feedback about the relief milker or farm worker assigned to them. This feedback gets published on the milkers profile whether good or bad and is a good way for us to help ensure we have the right people providing services to our clients.
